Müggelsee
The Müggelsee is the largest lake in Berlin and is divided into the small and large Müggelsee. Numerous swimming bays invite you to enjoy a relaxing day by the water. If you prefer not to search for swimming spots, you can simply head to the free Müggelsee beach.
If you're looking for more action, you'll find it right next to the Müggelsee beach: The surf and sailing school offers rentals for pedal boats, SUP boards, surfing equipment, and much more. Sailing and motorboating are also allowed on the lake, making it a true paradise for water sports enthusiasts.
If a whole day at the lake feels like too much, you can take a short trip to the Captain of Köpenick in the old town and stroll among the charming houses.
Getting there: Take the S3 towards Erkner and get off at Berlin-Friedrichshagen station. Then, hop on tram 61 towards Rahnsdorf and get off at Müggelsee beach.
Stienitzsee
A clean, large lake with hardly any boat traffic? That's Stienitzsee in the Märkisch-Oderland district. In the southeast of the lake, there's a public beach with some shady spots. Fishing enthusiasts will also be happy at Stienitzsee, as fishing with a permit or guest card is allowed.

Getting there: Take the S5 towards Strausberg and get off at Strausberg station. Then, take bus 950 to Henickendorf, Dorf.
Straussee and Bötzsee
For those seeking peace and relaxation, a trip to the tranquil and not overly crowded Straussee is recommended, especially during the warm summer months! Straussee is located in the east of Brandenburg and is easily accessible by S-Bahn. Clear water and small white sandy bays provide a pure vacation feeling!

Getting to Straussee: Take the S5 towards Strausberg Nord. Get off at Strausberg Stadt station, from where the lakes are easily reachable on foot or by bike.
Getting to Bötzsee: Take the S5 towards Strausberg Nord. Get off at Strausberg station, transfer to bus 932, and get off at Eggersdorf.
Wannsee
"Pack your swimsuit, take your little sister, and head out to Wannsee..."
That’s the spirit of vacation! With the largest inland beach in Europe, Wannsee is definitely worth a visit.
The over 100-year-old beach is perfect for non-swimmers due to its gradually deepening water, and it's also great for leisurely walks in the water. If you enjoy natural nudism, you can also enjoy the warm summer days in the beach's designated nudist area.

If you're in the mood for romance, you can combine your trip with a ferry ride to the enchanting Peacock Island. Fountains, green meadows, peacocks, and a white castle invite you to take long walks on this nature-protected island since 1924.
Getting there: Take the S7 towards Potsdam Hbf to Nikolassee, and from there, it's about a 15-minute walk to Wannsee.
Tegeler See
At 450 hectares, Tegeler See is Berlin's second-largest lake and offers many activities—how about a steamboat ride, a long day of swimming, or a visit to the wildlife enclosure?
Many small beaches and bays provide ample swimming opportunities, surrounded by lots of nature.
Getting there: Take the U6 to Alt-Tegel and then bus 222 towards Tegel Ort, getting off at Spechtstr.
Heiliger See
A peaceful lake nestled among beautiful parks and palaces in Potsdam.
